- Real Assignment, Real Time
with Jim Hoover, Art Director, Viking Children's Books
This year as part of the conference program, illustrators can participate in an Illustrator Intensive. Art Director Jim Hoover will assign a text to illustrate six weeks before the conference. Participants will have two weeks to produce a sketch. Jim will suggest improvements. Participants will then have three weeks to do a final illustration. Final artwork will be reviewed and critiqued in a group setting during the Intensive at the conference.

*** Intensive is limited to ten. The Illustrator Intensive is included in the conference registration price. Indicate on registration form that you wish to participate. Conference registration fee MUST be received by February 13, 2012. Specific details will be sent after registration is received.

  Writer's Pitch Session:
Each attendee has the opportunity to submit a typed 60-word pitch summarizing his or her book. Pitches will be selected at random and read in front of the panel of speakers. We will read as many as time allows. Turn pitches in at the registration desk upon arrival at conference. Pitches will be anonymous.
